📍 Overview

BMW collaborated with SCADpro to foster their culture of innovation across the IT Tech Office Americas by streamlining their intrapreneurial initiatives (20% of their competencies), scaling business impact by 10x.

I led our team in developing an innovation blueprint with 10 modular phygital touchpoints, thus embedding innovation in BMW's culture and operations over the next 5 years.

⚡️ Highlights

How can a strategy blueprint promote innovation within BMW to enrich the work culture, collaboration, and impact throughout their American regional offices?

This project is under NDA to prevent sharing proprietary and confidential material, limiting the details I can share. If you'd like to know more about my contribution to the project, I'd be happy to chat via mail or on a call!

🙋🏾‍♂️ My Contribution

Heavy is the crown as I stepped up to be Project Manager.

As the sole Design Manager on the team, I proposed an Agile workflow. But taking up the mantle was not the easiest as I was balancing 2 other projects, which led me to appoint another member to ensure the project progressed smoothly. A recap of some of the work I did:

  • GANTT maps for streamlined communication and progress tracking

  • 20+ hours of SME interviews, both within and outside of BMW to learn more on enterprise intrapreneurship

  • Blue Ocean ERIC strategy for BMW against 9 competitor organization initiatives

  • Leading co-creation, ideation, and usability testing sessions

  • Facilitating the interaction design for digital prototypes, incorporating prior BMW concepts

  • Presented 10 weeks in 10 minutes to BMW's innovation executives across 4 crucial checkpoints

⭐️ North Stars

After our client team's brief pitch, I led the team to build on BMW's 4 Cs: a constellation of north stars.

🧠 Creativity

Develop idea building sprints with SME updates, maintaining Tech Radar compliance.

🗣️ Communication

Revamp current channels, making it easy to inform, engage, and recognize stakeholders.

🤝🏻 Collaboration

Focus on cross-organizational workflows, improving participation and mentor guidance.

⛳️ Centralization

Design a unified innovation platform, boosting navigability and optimizing visitor time-on-task.

📊 Impact

Leading usability testing sessions helped me project relevant metrics.

We worked alongside BMW's Greenville team on co-creation and validation sessions.

X.X% ↑

Cross-department collaboration & participation. Measured from trend simulations.

Streamlined navigability in innovation forums. Measured from web usability studies.

XXXX hours↓

Employee time saved by optimizing site visits. Measured from interviews and working hours.

XX%↓

Reduced bounce rate in innovation forums. Measured from the website's user analytics.

🎬 Retrospective

Working with BMW was a full circle moment.

From being the proud owner of an X1 to mapping their internal strategy, this project deepened my connection with the brand. It was a bird's eye view into their enterprise thinking and drive to broaden the lens of innovation beyond just automobiles.

👏 Team Management

Managing a team of 19 can be challenging but rewarding. Through moments of confusion, I focused on instilling group dynamics that are respectable, honest, and equitable.

⏭️ Client-First Approach

Learn to prioritize the client's needs before the team's prejudices. Our initial ideas were well-received but restricted by implementation timelines, moving us to pivot our approach and relevance.

⚔️ Picking Your Battles Wisely

Having multiple teams with varying deliverables often pulled us apart when it came to making decisions. Questioning the impact of the outcome helped us reduce time and effort.
